Where bodies catch
Quand les corps se tiennent
In this series, human vulnerability: acrobats hold their position, soar, fall, but someone is always there to reach out, to carry them when needed.
Isabelle mounted cameras on performers from the Cirkvost trapeze company, extracting stills that capture their suspended moments. Working with the British company Mimbre, an all-female acrobatic ensemble, she photographed the precise moments when bodies grip and sustain one another.
The act of holding, of supporting - beyond aesthetic concerns - evokes something deeply moving that transcends any particular era or style. What lies at the heart is the essential question of trust: in oneself, in the other.
